Deep feeling of dissatisfaction and we have united for life. How contented are you at this point in life? Don’t you have the relentless annoyance of not getting it all, or getting it all and still have that feeling of dissatisfaction in life? How many times were you absolutely satisfied- deeply- and didn’t regret being who you are or where you are.
We Upset Ourselves! I do too.
Well, we fail to understand that life is a roller coaster ride, which stops for no one. No matter, who you are, it is inexorable. It is going to serve you with those nasty ups and downs. But, can we really count on actually being in that happy and contented zone, or is it just a myth?
Frank T McAndrew once said, “Don’t try to be Happy. We are Programmed to be Dissatisfied.”
The feeling of dissatisfaction in life is just a tip of the iceberg; our mind is the culprit- complicated and perplexing.
Understand CD (The Answer for Deep Dissatisfaction in Life Lies There)
What the hell on earth is CD? Well, CD or Chronic Dissatisfaction is a twitchy yearning– to get more and even more- but in our head, we have a zilch clue of what is our mind craving for.
It’s a HUM- a continuous one- that plays in the background or shows up intermittently. The more you try to repress it, the more will it prosper. That’s how the feeling of dissatisfaction works!
I am telling you my reasons, why I find myself trapped in the grasp of CD all the time.
I Force Myself to Abide by Some Unrealistic Values
When I was a kid, I used to create a time table- an unrealistic one- that was so strict that even God can’t follow it. Lol, well, it sounds funny now, but then, I was punishing myself. My timetable asked me to wake up at 5, do random things before I get busy with the school, come back home, do loads of homework, and sleep late at night. That was some nasty shit I was doing to myself in the name of the timetable! #sigh
So, say no to unrealistic values and feeling of dissatisfaction in life!
Today, I don’t burn myself under such pressures– only sometimes, a little bit though! Wink, Wink!
I was Conditioned to Believe that Discontentment is Stimulus– Is it, really?
Discontentment fuels motivation. How factual is that! Well, if someone said so, there is a possibility that it could happen. You are going to be under the radar of CD if you believe in that too.
With such lousy conditioning to deem that, ‘dissatisfaction’ is our motivator, we keep on engraving it in ourselves as the gospel truth, further believing that nothing can change it.
Fortunately, We can Get Out of This Trap!
It takes a little adjusting in the mindset- change the old conditioning that makes us think that unrealistic standards are good for us- and get back to something that we can say is sensible.
We are in dire straits if we are stuck to the old mindset that says, Discontentment is a motivator. It’s a trap, indeed!
I Think The Comparison Sucks! Beware, Comparisonitis are Everywhere!
That sucks though! How petite it is to compare ourselves to others. I mean, it is precisely like comparing The Sun and The Earth- absurd and tangential- that literally makes no sense. Come on, we have better things to do in life, why waste time in belittling ourselves by comparing it with others?
Comparison is a vicious cycle that ends up in dissatisfaction, hence making you gloomy.
The qualities of an individual are starkly juxtaposed with the qualities of others, which belittle the one in one way or the other.
Mark of Maturity- Stop This Vicious Cycle of Comparison; Appreciate Being You!
Dita Von Teese indeed says, “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.”
If you have saved yourself from such a petite mindset of comparison, perhaps, you have dodged a bullet.
I Felt Purposelessness- In Everything, To be Precise
Carefully created lies, haughty conversations, sham relationships including pseudo-facts about – friendships, parenting, elderly, unity, relationships- is something that leads one to purposelessness.
And, once, you have felt this emptiness in it all, you lose contentment- feeling of dissatisfaction in life.
The Realism of a Hushed Zone- In My Words
Then you enter a ‘Hushed Zone’ – where you can pierce right into their soul through their eyes- and understand how easy it is to act pretentious, effortlessly.
This zone is the reality, though!
To me it was, it felt like detoxifying the deepest self. A phase that has zilch thoughts, no negativity around, clear mind that is focused on creating better.
“Damn, is it How We Meet the Real Self? If yes, There is Nothing Better than that then.” #MeetSelf
Coming back to Purposelessness again (once lost from all temporary things) – we tend to see the real purpose of our life – that is to identify yourself, and work on its betterment.
Last Thoughts on This!
Rushing to the conclusion for this all, I would say that, I’ll eat my hat if someone truly ditches the whole ‘conditioning of being discontented’ with almost everything.
I realize it will take time to change our minds that we have blurred ourselves with pointlessness. Not expecting the change in the feeling of dissatisfaction so soon! But, slow and steady – as they say- is how it gets closer to the success, let’s wait to get back on the right path that way.
